Rabbi Yochanan and Reish Lakish disagree if one already substituted an animal for a particular animal and then did another substitution for that same animal – would it be effective? Rabbi Avin asks: According to Rabbi Yochanan who says no, what would the case be if the situation were more complicated – different animals whose sanctity came from one source or the same animal but it is not being brought for a differnet sacrifice? The question is brought in two different versions and Abaye questions him. His question (with varying versions) is also brought in another context of one who redeems something sanctified by adding a fifth – are there cases where one would need to pay a fifth twice?
